“You always save the best lies for yourself.” – Amador Lockdown

Something has moved into the Amador Hotel. Hector, Marcos, Bev, and Tony of the Paranormal Posse are called in to either debunk the haunting or get rid of whatever is causing the problems. With the surprise arrival of Hector’s son, he tries to keep his professional and personal lives separate, but whatever is haunting the Amador Hotel has other plans.

It’s no secret how much I enjoy the supernatural. I’m a sucker for all of the paranormal TV shows, regardless how cheesy they get sometimes. I just can’t resist a good spooky story. I’m sure we have all heard something go Bump! in the night or a strange sound that sent chills down our spines as we secretly wondered what the heck it was, right? Well, Russell brings that creepy feel to life in Amador Lockdown.

Russell starts off this creepy paranormal tale with the Paranormal Posse leading a tour group through  an old graveyard, setting the tone for the entire story. As the team is called in to investigate, and hopefully debunk, the strange happenings at the Amador Hotel, it becomes quite clear that they may be in over their heads. Parts of the story had me thinking about Rose Red and a line about houses being alive and if we listen we can hear houses breathe…this line is fitting for Amador Lockdown too.

Overall, I enjoyed the riveting plot and the eery feel of the ghost hunt. The historical quality of the Amador Hotel was well researched, highlighting some of its unique history. Readers that enjoy Gretchen McNeil’s Possess and Kendare Blakes’s Anna Dressed in Blood will definitely find Amador Lockdown appealing. It’s a fast read that is simply too hauntingly good to put down.

In My Mailbox (1) Templar Knights and Angels

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren that lets book bloggers and book lovers get a peek at some of the goodies that are floating around out there.

I hope everyone had a blast ringing in the New Year. We sure did. Our mailbox didn’t actually explode with goodies…but 2012 is definitely off to a great start.

Bought:

Archon: the Books of Raziel by Sabrina Benulis

I was lucky enough to snag one of the two copies my local bookstore ordered. Yeah, just two. The cover is fabulous and I can’t wait to see what it has in store for me. Oh… despite how the cover looks, this actually is an Adult book and not YA. Go figure.

For Review:

Immortal Hope: the Curse of the Templars by Claire Ashgrove (ARC courtesy of TOR) Thank you, TOR!

I devoured this AMAZING novel in less than 2 days. I’m still speechless. There is so much more to Immortal Hope than the cover reveals. This is definitely a must-read…must-buy for the new year. Review and Blog Tour coming soon.

From Paperback Swap:

Enter Three Witches (a story of Macbeth) by Caroline B Cooney

I  couldn’t resist a retelling of Macbeth. Not sure what to expect but it sounds interesting enough.
