Welcome to Fictitious Musings. Follow Friday is a wonderful little meme that brings us book junkies closer together so we can spread our wings or our book knowledge, make new friends, and find some of the most awesome book blogs in the blogosphere.
This week’s FF question is:
What is your biggest pet peeve when it comes to books? Maybe you don’t like love triangles or thin plots? Tell us about it!
Me and Hubby are sort of on common ground with this one. He just flat can’t stand love triangles. It seems like ever since Bella was torn between Edward and Jacob, every paranormal and urban fantasy has a love triangle. While Marty doesn’t like them in any shape, form, or fashion, I can work with it if the story doesn’t become overwhelmed by our heroine, who can take charge any other time, getting lost between two guys. Meanwhile, while she suffers all this emotional angst, the world is still being overrun by demons or zombies or something. Can we focus just a little bit? Save the world and worry over which guy is your dream hunk later. It’s called priorities.
What are your pet peeves? Leave a comment with a link to your blog and I’ll stop by to see what drives you batty.

Hopping through. I sometimes like love triangles if they’re done well, but they’re usually not. I like the Twilight triangle mostly b/c it was the first love triangle I read.

I don’t hate love triangles on sight, but I need them to be well done… and I always seem to want the protagonist to end up with the opposite person to the one she DOES end up with. Alas!

morning! Oh the Bella, Jacob, Edward thing bothered me, as do most love triangles, but I try to keep an open mind in case one comes along that’s really well done and I can see the heroine with either of the strong male leads. Just, that never happens. We get one strong male lead and then the other guy and we’re always like, huh? Why does she even need to choose? There’s zero competition! Anyway, happy friday!

Love triangles are overdone but I think that they still have their place if done properly.

I’m okay with love triangles, but I like it when the two guys have equal chances. Like everyone knew Bella was going to end up with Edward. Mostly because she’d throw herself off a cliff if she didn’t, but still. I like not knowing till the end which guy they’ll choose. And like you said, having priorities.
