“The choices I had made led to the moment when fate took over. I would learn a lesson I wasn’t prepared for.
And Death would be my willing teacher.”

Five years ago Abbey Chandler cheated Death. She survived a horrific car accident, but her lucky break came at the expense of her mother’s life and changed everything. After she crossed paths with Death—by taking the hand of an ethereal boy made of clouds and sky—she would never be normal again.

Now she’s the target of Death’s Ravens and an innocent boy’s life is on the line. When Nate Holden—Abbey’s secret crush—starts to climb Alaska’s Denali, the Angel of Death is with him because of her.

Abbey finds out the hard way that Death never forgets.

On A Dark Wing is an emotional and mysterious tale in which Death is front and center. Ever since the tragic car accident that took Abbey’s mother, she has been filled with survivor’s guilt. Her relationship with her father has been almost nonexistent. As Nate, the boy she’s infatuated with, sets out on an expedition to climb Denali, everything in Abbey’s life begins to change. She notices ravens everywhere and they seem to be following her.

After reading Jordan Dane’s In the Arms of Stone Angels, I knew that she was a stalk-worthy author that wouldn’t disappoint. On A Dark Wing is more than I could have hoped for. It’s a thrilling, mysterious, and fabulous paranormal delight. Dane’s descriptions are vivid and electrifying. The characters are realistic and believable as they face the challenges set before them. The paranormal qualities are subtle at first, gaining momentum as the plot thickens. I really enjoy the way Dane pulls you into the characters’ lives and slowly feeds you details without overwhelming you. Rarely, if ever, have I seen Death as a character with emotion, and I really enjoyed this unique twist. Death is always perceived as a dark and heartless entity, and Dane has proven that Death can be whatever you want it to be. Giving Death a softer side made for a remarkably interesting character that I couldn’t get enough of.

From beginning to end, I found On A Dark Wing to be a brilliantly written and exciting read. Jordan never ceases to amaze me with her characters; they could easily be the girl/boy next door. Once again, Jordan has rocked out another fabulous read that is sure to excite YA as well as adult readers. I look forward to reading more of Jordan’s works.

About Jordan (from Goodreads)

Avon/HarperCollins launched Jordan Dane’s debut suspense novels in a back to back publishing event in Spring 2008 after buying the 3-book series in auction. Pursuing publication since 2003, Jordan had received awards in 33 national writing competitions and was an energy sales manager in the oil and gas industry prior to selling. Now she is following her passion and writes full time.

Ripped from the headlines, Jordan’s gritty plots weave a tapestry of vivid settings, intrigue, and dark humor. She loves challenging a reader’s moral barometer with the borderline ethics of her characters and their flawed personalities—dark, angst-ridden antiheroes pitted against unforgettable villains. Publishers Weekly compared her intense pacing to Lisa Jackson, Lisa Gardner, and Tami Hoag—”romantic suspense that crosses over into plain thriller country with tight plotting and exceptional male characters, both bad guys and good.”

Jordan and her husband share their residence with two cats of highborn lineage and the spirit of an intelligent canine who is impossible to forget.
