Waiting on Wednesday: Three Enticing Reads
“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.
Hey there Fictitious Musers.
We have had some crazy-annoying problems with our internet connection for almost a week now and it’s really getting on our last good nerve, so our blog posts have been a little lacking since last Friday. Sorry about that. Hopefully, it will improve soon but our provider isn’t sure how long it will take to get the problem under control. We’ve been told that over-usage is the culprit. Could it be a line of crap? Probably! But for now we can get online so here we are, trying to get this post up without losing connection.
What are we desperately waiting on this Wednesday?
Starling by Leslie Livingston
Starling Series #1
Release date: 8/15/2012 (Harper Teen)
“Love is just the beginning… of the end.”
Mason Starling is a champion fencer for Gosforth Academy, but she’s never had to fight for her life. Until now. When a ferocious storm rips through Manhattan and unleashes terrifying creatures onto Gosforth’s campus, Mason barely escapes alive. Without help from the mysterious stranger who appeared in the midst of the storm, she might not have made it at all. But now, in the aftermath, Mason’s life begins to spin dramatically, mystically out of control, and the only one who seems able to help her is the stranger who can remember nothing but his name: Fennrys Wolf.
As Mason and Fenn uncover more about Fenn’s past and the strange events that surround them, they realize that Mason’s family — and its dark allegiance to the ancient Norse gods — is at the center of everything. A predetermined fate seems to be closing in on Mason, but is it possible to change one’s destiny?
Readers who fell in love with Lesley Livingston’s Wondrous Strange trilogy and those who love Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series will be captivated by the sweeping romance and pulse-pounding action of Starling.

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
Anna Series #2
Release date 8/7/2012 (TOR Teen)
Cas begins seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he’s asleep, and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong. These aren’t just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.
Cas doesn’t know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn’t deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it’s time for him to return the favor.
Fever Moon: The Fear of Dorcha by Karen Marie Moning (Graphic Novel)
Fever Series
Release date 7/10/2012 (Del Rey)
In Fever Moon, we meet the most ancient and deadly Unseelie ever created, the Fear Dorcha. For eons, he’s traveled worlds with the Unseelie king, leaving behind him a path of mutilation and destruction. Now he’s hunting Dublin, and no one Mac loves is safe.
Dublin is a war zone. The walls between humans and Fae are down. A third of the world’s population is dead and chaos reigns. Imprisoned over half a million years ago, the Unseelie are free and each one Mac meets is worse than the last. Human weapons don’t stand a chance against them.
With a blood moon hanging low over the city, something dark and sinister begins to hunt the streets of Temple Bar, choosing its victims by targeting those closest to Mac. Armed only with the Spear of Destiny and Jericho Barrons, she must face her most terrifying enemy yet.
What are you waiting on?

So many picks! I wish I was able to find not only one but three novels I’m really anticipating, but most of the times.. Nope, just one. Very curious about at least two of them, too!

Holy crap, Starling sounds awesome. I love how there’s Norse mythology in it, it’s something we don’t encounter everyday in YA books. Thanks for sharing!
