I know Fifty Shades of Grey has been labeled ‘Mommy Porn,’ but casting a porn star in a leading role seems to be a little out there. However, that’s the rumor now floating around… and it should actually be ‘Rumor,’ with a capital ‘R,’ because this just seems like a cheap marketing ploy to me.

Author Bret Easton Ellis recently shared on Twitter that porn star James Deen is in the running for the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaptation of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey. Before you panic, keep in mind that being in the running isn’t even close to actually landing the role. Also, we still have that cheap marketing angle I mentioned.

Here’s the thing. Ellis recently wrote a film called The Canyons. It comes out sometime in 2013, and in addition to starring the train wreck known as Lindsay Lohan, it also stars James Deen… as a character named Christian.

Now, I know there’s a chance you might’ve possibly heard of (or seen) James Deen before, but had you ever heard of The Canyons? Well, you have now since one of the stars has been linked to Fifty Shades. It’s the type of advertising money can’t buy. Just toss out a random tweet and watch people scramble to see if it’s true.

Personally, I hope this turns out to be a rumor. See that guy up there? I don’t know about you, but I don’t see Christian Grey in that pic.
