Dead Ends by Sandra Balzo

The second title in the ‘Main Street’ series – A blast from the past has deadly consequences for the small town of Sutherton.

Fall arrives early in the High Country of North Carolina, but journalist AnnaLise Griggs is more concerned about one particular trio of visitors:Benjamin Rosewood, his wife Tanja, and their daughter, Suzanne, especially as AnnaLise and Ben have history.

When two sudden and unexpected deaths occur, AnnaLise must protect herself and the place she loves as she is forced to confront how far a person might go to get – and keep – what they believe should be their own.

I’m always excited to delve into an exciting murder mystery set in a small town, and Balzo’s Dead Ends is just what I had hoped it would be.

Dead Ends starts off slow, allowing readers to connect with AnnaLise and the colorful townspeople of Sutherton, NC. but once it picks up momentum, there’s no looking back. When AnnaLise’ ex-lover and his family arrive, the once peaceful town is turned upside-down with not one murder, but several. Just when I thought I knew who the murderer was, Balzo flipped the script, adding another layer to the mystery. I was taken completely by surprise by the ending and I think you will be too.

Balzo definitely has a knack for mysteries and keeping her readers on their toes until she’s ready to give you the smoking gun. Her characters are well developed making them easy to connect with. AnnaLise was by far my favorite; her strength allows her to standout amongst the other characters but at the same time blend in too. She’s definitely memorable.

I highly recommend the Main Street series to readers that enjoy a good mystery. I can’t wait to see what Sandra has in-store for us next.
