Blog Tour & Giveaway: Careful by Isobella Jade
Welcome to the Careful Blog Tour hosted by YA Bound. Isobella Jade’s Careful is the first book in the new and exciting YA series, The Careful, Quiet, Invisible.
After Estella Montclair is killed in a texting and driving crash, what remains of her face and body is devastating. But not all of her has died.
During the first month after her death, Estella’s spirit travels among her living friends and family. Her best friends Zara, Eva and Jett show her how pain and sorrow can break apart or strengthen a bond. She also sees for the first time that loss can spark revenge, catastrophe can come without warning, and we all have secrets. She wonders if her chance for love with Phoenix has passed her by, and if out of sight truly means out of mind. And maybe one day the girl who caused her death will admit her mistake.
While adjusting to a new state of being, Estella struggles to face the limitations that come with death, but blossoms by recognizing she can still touch the lives of the people she once knew so well.

Isobella Jade’s Careful is an emotionally charged tale of the texting and driving death of Estella Montclair. Life changes in the blink of an eye for Estella when a fellow student causes a tragic accident that leaves her spirit gliding from the life of one friend or family member to another.
From the moment I begin reading Estella’s story, I was overcome with emotion for her, her family, and all of her friends. I thought I new the direction Jade was taking the story but quickly realized how wrong I was. It made me stop and think about the increasing number of accidents involving texting, and the emotional toll that comes along with it. Careful is an eye-opening journey of love, loss, friendship and family.
Jade’s ability to express an emotion is as captivating as the plot itself. She is truly gifted. The way she expresses Estella’s movements illustrates a new way to look at disembodied characters and how they feel/think/move. Here’s an example -
“The pull of energy could come from the feeling of being needed, or a spark would run through me alerting my senses of what way to go or not go, like reins that control a horse’s direction.
It became clear to me a little more each day that there was an invisible pulse of life that streamed through all people and things. I hadn’t considered these energies during my life on earth, but now these invisible pulses were a part of my new existence.
At first I thought these pulls and yanks were the best way to stay in tune with my loved ones, but soon I discovered I could connect in an even more personal and powerful way.”
–from pg 93 of Careful
Careful has an angelic quality about it, even with the sadness felt for all of the characters. Initially, I thought the texting while driving would be the main focus but I’m glad that Careful allowed readers to bond with Estella and get to know her in a more intimate way. For those of you wondering if the cover art plays into the story, it does and in the most amazingly emotional way. I highly recommend Isobella Jade’s Careful to readers of all ages.
