Rick & Wylie’s Fantastical, Magical Adventures (Journey to the Kingdom), tells the story of a father and his daughter, Rick and Wylie, who, due to the actions of an evil wizard, become separated, whilst on holiday in Hawaii.

Wylie has to work her way across a huge and dangerous mystical forest. Rick, along with some of his friends, enters the mystical forest to go in search of his daughter. Both Rick and Wylie endure trials and tribulations, and are finally reunited in the forest.

Together, they succeed in awakening the sleeping kingdom,  a place that has been hidden from the evil wizard for more than half a millennium.

MOI’S GREAT, GREAT AUNT : :  Extremely old Tibetan lady, with extremely dark secrets (apparent in book 2)

Conversation takes place in Rick & Wylie’s Princeville apartment, Kaua’i, Hawaii, after another daylong coordinated search. Rick has gone with three friends to rescue Wylie, while other friends, believing the only way back will be via the ocean, are on constant lookout for their return from the mystical forest.

AGGY:  It’s so damn agonizing, having no clue as to whether they’ve found her or not. Wylie’s like a daughter to me.

BRETT:  She’s like a daughter to me too, Aggy.

AGGY:  Yeah, she is. In fact she’s like a daughter to all of us. I can’t sleep Brett, knowing she’s lost, all alone. And I absolutely can not bare the thought that she may be lost out there in the ocean, washing about, being crushed by the waves.

BRETT:  Look, Rick will find her, he will… he’ll never give up until he does.

AGGY:  That’s guaranteed. But where is Rick? He’s been gone for days. Missing, again! What if…?

BRETT:  We’ve already talked about this, Aggy. It’s been well over a week, there’s no way she’s still in the ocean, like the other survivors from the capsized boat, she will have gotten to shore.

AGGY :  I know that Brett, but where is she?

BRETT :  We have to hope it’s as Ãnela and the Skipper said.

AGGY :  You mean she’s ended up in the mystical forest they spoke of?

BRETT :  We have to hope. Rather that than lost at sea.

AGGY :   I hear you, Brett. And what about this crazy jeweller?

BRETT :  Come on, no one still believes he’s a jeweller. Did you hear what the witnesses said? He was seen standing at the top of the cliffs, screaming out to the heavens. They say he’s the one who caused the boat to capsize.

AGGY :  I really don’t know what to make of it all. Ah, speaking of… I’ve got the skipper scheduled to go out in the boat at 5.am, first light.

BRETT :  What grid?

AGGY :  They’re picking up where we left off this evening. They’ll be taking off from Hanalei Bay, southwards. We’re covering no more than a mile out to sea now, Brett.

BRETT :  That’s great, more than sufficient. When they resurface, and they will, Aggy….

AGGY :  I know, Brett, I know they will.

BRETT :  Well, it’s going to be close to shore, somewhere. They’ll be coming out of the mountains, underground I guess.

AGGY :  And we’re still certain they’re now inside the island, all of them, in this mystical forest?

BRETT:  Ãnela is. The skipper of the capsized boat is. All of our close friends who know about the legend, they are. I am.

AGGY :  My faith’s in all of you then.

BRETT :  You heard what the skipper said?

AGGY :  Yeah, I heard him, every word. When the boat went over and they were all trying to swim to shore, Wylie was snatched by some invisible force, so he said, and taken inside the island. Brett, truthfully, do you think she’s all right?

BRETT :  Truthfully, I really do.

AGGY :  That’s what we’re praying for.

BRETT :  Aggy, trust your gut, you know she’s all right. So is Rick, and those that went with him in search of her. Come on, you know she’s not lost at sea.

AGGY :  Yeah, that much I know. That much I trust.

BRETT :  What’s the situation with Stuart and Moi back in L.A.? I haven’t spoken with either of them directly since they left almost a week ago.

AGGY :  Brett, between going up in the helicopter and out in the boat it’s a wonder you’ve even found time to eat and sleep. So sorry, I thought I’d already given you the latest update, everything’s so hectic here….

BRETT:  I know. It’s okay. Have you spoken to them this afternoon?

AGGY :  About three hours ago. You were still out in the helicopter conducting your grid search. We’re due for another call from them fairly soon.

BRETT :  What’s the news?

AGGY :  Stuart told me they’d made contact with Moi’s great, great aunt, who in turn has been in touch with some distant relatives in Nepal, who’ve assured her that they can contact the holy people from the Kailash mountain monastery in Tibet. Moi then told me that, very surprisingly, her great, great aunt knows of this jeweller, Mr. Fang, and also knows of the quartz pebble, you know, Wylie’s crystal teardrop. She’s invited Stuart and Moi for afternoon tea at her private residence. Moi said that it sounds as though they’re going to be able to find out about..  ..I still have difficulty saying it, Mr. Fang being an evil wizard.

BRETT :  I agree, that’s exceptionally weird, how would she know about Fang? Anyway, more information about the situation, and possibly receiving help from those holy people in Tibet, Aggy, this has got to be all good! If it’s going to help us get Rick and our girl back, and Dennis and the others, it’s gotta be all good..  ..right?

AGGY :  Without a doubt, Brett, all good! And as I keep saying, this is what we’re all hoping for. It’s just that good and evil; they really don’t play well together do they?

BRETT :  You’re right about that! So what’s this about Mr. Fang?

AGGY :  The evil wizard, that’s what they’re calling him now.

BRETT :  Yeah, Wan Chu Fang. Does anybody know where he is…?

Hello my friends!

I’m English, of rich Irish, African descent. Born in the sound of bow bells, an orphan, I grew up in Manchester, England. Quite a bit more than forty, I‘m a vegan, though occasionally lapse into vegetarianism.

Throughout my school years I was a champion athlete and swimmer, going on to become an athletics coach, swimming teacher and youth leader. After which time I was trained as a Chartered Accountant. Interrupting my training, I branched out, working freelance as a troubleshooter in the field of accountancy. Six years of adding and subtracting, was followed by two years of trading as an international commodities broker. This led me to the sedentary position of ‘trader in antique, oriental carpets’. It was at this juncture that I became completely inspired to become a writer.

As a ‘school kid’ I very much enjoyed writing plays in English, Latin and French. Fortunately for me, writing came naturally. I so, so like writing stories that give people, especially young people, and people young at heart, the chance to exercise their own imagination.

I love taking my readers on fantastic journeys. The enjoyment and taste of adventure my stories give to my readers, warms me greatly.
