Waiting On Wednesday: Time Travel, Dystopian Worlds and The Queen of the Dead

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

Hey guys! Hump day has finally arrived. I stumbled upon a few interesting reads this week that I simply must have in my reading pile. They won’t be released for a while but who says we can’t get a jump on things? LOL. The first two are new to me. If you guys have read anything by these authors please share in the comments.

Here’s what I’m waiting on this week.

Silence by Michelle Sagara West
Release date: May 1, 2012 (DAW)

This is the first in an exciting new series, The Queen of the Dead, and it sounds freaking awesome. I really like stories set around, or in, graveyards. The cover reminds me of Ruined by Paula Morris, though. Cover aside, Silence looks like a a great read. This is definitely one to add to your to-read list.

The Last Princess

by Galaxy Craze
Release date: May 8, 2012 (Poppy)

The summary quickly caught my attention with the first line…”Happily ever after is a thing of the past.” I love dystopian novels and The Last Princess seems to fit nicely in that category.

Sapphire Blue by Kerstin Gier
Release date: October 30, 2012 (Henry Holy & Co)

This is the second installment in the Edelstein Trilogie. I haven’t had a chance to read Ruby Red yet but now that I’ve read the summary for this one, I’ll move it up in my reading pile. Sounds like a great time-travel series. The cover is fantastic too. What do you guys think?

What are you waiting on this week?

Teaser Tuesday: Born Wicked

Teaser Tuesday

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

    • Grab your current read
    • Open to a random page
    • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
    • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
    • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teaser.

This week I grabbed a copy of Born Wicked and couldn’t help but share a taste of what it has to offer beyond the gorgeous cover. I love witches as much as any paranormal creature, so I’m excited to see how the story plays out. If you’ve read it, I’d love to hear what you thought about it.

Teaser:

“Perversions of what women should be,” Maura mimics. “Because they loved other women? Or because they refused to submit to a man’s authority?”

In My Mailbox: Dark Days with 4 Astounding YA Authors + 1

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren that lets book bloggers and book lovers get a peek at some of the goodies that are floating around out there.

No surprise that this was another fabulous week in books around here. The Dark Days Tour stopped in Houston at Blue Willow Book Shop so it was time for a much needed road trip. Road trips are always worth it when four talented authors are making a stop in our sorta neck of the woods. As always the line up was awesome…Courtney Allison Moulton, Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton and Cynthia Hand with a surprise appearance by the super friendly Mary Lindsey. We took tons of pics and another video of Q & A and discussion at the event. We’ll get the pics and video up on the blog as soon as we can. Good times and good reads…is there anything better? Nope!

We also ran into fellow book bloggers Trini @ A Book_Lover’s Review and Yara @ Once Upon A Twilight. They’re too awesome for words and we had a great time chatting about books and the upcoming TLA conference with them and Mary Lindsey.

Check out our awesome goodies.
