In My Mailbox: Dark Days with 4 Astounding YA Authors + 1

In My Mailbox is a weekly meme hosted by Kristi at The Story Siren that lets book bloggers and book lovers get a peek at some of the goodies that are floating around out there.

No surprise that this was another fabulous week in books around here. The Dark Days Tour stopped in Houston at Blue Willow Book Shop so it was time for a much needed road trip. Road trips are always worth it when four talented authors are making a stop in our sorta neck of the woods. As always the line up was awesome…Courtney Allison Moulton, Jodi Meadows, Brodi Ashton and Cynthia Hand with a surprise appearance by the super friendly Mary Lindsey. We took tons of pics and another video of Q & A and discussion at the event. We’ll get the pics and video up on the blog as soon as we can. Good times and good reads…is there anything better? Nope!

We also ran into fellow book bloggers Trini @ A Book_Lover’s Review and Yara @ Once Upon A Twilight. They’re too awesome for words and we had a great time chatting about books and the upcoming TLA conference with them and Mary Lindsey.

Check out our awesome goodies.

In My Mailbox: Awe-inspiring reads galore

It’s that time of the week again and we have a sweet stack of goodies to share with you guys and gals. Let’s get to the good stuff…

For Review:

The Dark Rose by Erin Kelly

Some time ago, I read Kelly’s The Poison Tree and while I didn’t enjoy it all that much, I felt compelled to give her another try. The Dark Rose sounds like a thrilling read. The summary mentions that the book delves into obsessive love and loyalty, devotion and desperation. Sounds like it could get a little intense for the MC.  I have to admit I love the cover too.

Fallen by Traci L. Slatton

I started reading this beauty as soon as I pulled it out of the mailbox. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and from what I’ve read, totally fits with the story. I’m always eager to see how the cover art plays into a story. Fallen is the first in a new post-apocalyptic series and it’s so unique. Check it out; you’ll be glad you did.

Won:

The Carrier of the Mark  by Leigh Fallon (Signed ARC & Signed Postcard)

I read this one last year and it’s so good. Definitely worth a re-read. The second installment of the Carrier Trilogy is titled Dawn of the Knights. It’s due out sometime this year, if memory serves me right. LOL

The Way We Fall  by Megan Crewe (ARC)

After reading the summary for this one, I was totally freaked out. From the summary alone, it sounds like it has a realistic feel to it. I’m anxious to crack the spine and see where the story goes. As a bonus, the cover art is fantastic. This is the first book in the Fallen World series.

Incarnate by Jodi Meadows (ARC)

This is easily one of my Top 10 must-read debuts this year. The cover alone makes this an easy buy. LOL It’s so pretty. I haven’t read a lot of books about reincarnation but I love the fantasy feel I get from the summary.  If you’ve read Incarnate, I’d like to know what you thought about it.

Special thanks to Aeicha @ Word Spelunking for all of these sweet reads.

In My Mailbox: Wicked Good Reads & Fabulous Authors (5)

It’s been a strange week in my neck of the woods. I didn’t receive a single book in the mail this week. No probs as I have tons of goodies sitting in the reading pile calling my name.

I did take a trip to Houston’s Murder By the Book with the hubby and a reading pal for an author signing that can only be described as insanely awesome. Jordan Dane, Ellie James, C.C. Hunter, Tracy Deebs, Emily McKay, and Shellee Roberts were more fun than a barrel of monkeys. So we snagged a few signatures and enjoyed great conversations with all of these writing divas. We do have a video from the event and will have it posted soon.

No One Heard Her Scream is an amazingly thrilling and suspenseful read. I wasn’t aware when I read it that it was Jordan’s debut novel. Jordan’s adult and YA novels are equally amazing reads that I highly recommend. You can check out my reviews by clicking on the titles No One Heard Her ScreamIn the Arms of Stone Angels, and On A Dark Wing.

And a handful of swag to go with these awesome reads too.

I did borrow one lovely book from the library this week…

That’s what I brought home this week. What goodies did you find in your mailbox?
