This week, I’m devouring Kendare Blake’s Anna Dressed in Blood and loving every ghostly moment of it. It’s the perfect Halloween read. Blake really keeps the hauntingly creepy details and ghoulish attacks coming in this outstanding page-turner. I’m dying for the next installment and I haven’t finished this one yet. It’s just that good.

Now it’s time to tease you guys. Are you ready? Anna’s coming!

Anna has pulled Mike through the window and into the house. He’s screaming and bawling like a caught animal, twisting in her grip and trying to keep from looking at her face. (Chapter 7, pg. 77)

Sounds frightening right? Anna is ghoulishly awesome. What’s my deal with the 7′s? With Anna hanging around, we need all the luck we can get.

I teased you. Now it’s your turn to tease me. Leave a link to your teaser in the comments and I’ll stop by for a visit.

Here’s a glimpse at Girl of Nightmares, the next installment in the Anna series. Release is set for August 2012. Gorgeous, right?

Inevitable Reads: The Power of Books Unleashed

Inevitable Reads is a weekly meme we’ve thrown together to highlight titles that we simply, without-a-doubt, must get our hands on; the stories we’ve been waiting for ever since we heard the author was writing them.

I recently stumbled across this latest title and knew immediately that it had be added to the top of the TBR list because you just can’t go wrong with a great paranormal story that pays respect to other books in the paranormal and fantasy genres. Want to understand any language with the help of a Babel fish from The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy? How about fulfilling the fantasy of becoming a vampire? Would you choose the kind from Dracula or go with something a little more sparkly from Twilight? What would you do if you could get your hands on the One Ring from The Lord of the Rings? Welcome to the world of the Libriomancer.

Libriomancer by Jim C Hines

Libriomancer by Jim C. Hines
Release Date: August 7, 2012
Magic ex Libris series #1

I couldn’t find an actual synopsis of Libriomancer on either Amazon or Goodreads, but the author spoke with the gang at io9 and shared a few details about his new series.

The Libriomancers are a group of magicians that have the ability to reach into the world of a book and pull anything out they desire. The book acts as a doorway so nobody will be reaching into Bram Stoker’s classic and plucking out Count Dracula because you can’t pull a guy through a door that’s only as big as a book. However, you can reach through that ‘door’ and let Dracula bite you… or you can have Edward Cullen bite you if you prefer your vamps with a little sparkle.

Books that contain really powerful objects, like Tolkien’s One Ring, are kept under tight security so that not just anybody can get their hands on these talismans, but the Libriomancers are attacked and some of those titles might not be under lock and key anymore.

I’ve always been fascinated by the power of books, and I think it’s exciting to see that power given an actual form in a new series so I am anxiously awaiting the moment when I can get my hands on this book.
