Waiting on Wednesday

Waiting On Wednesday: I’m Dreamless

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

I was once Starcrossed but now I’m simply Dreamless as I wait on the second book in Josephine Angelini’s Starcrossed series, and I love that cover.

Dreamless by Josephine Angelini

As the only Scion that can enter Hades at will, Helen descends to the Underworld in search of a way to overcome the Furies and end the cycle of revenge that has cursed the Scions. But she’s running out of time. Each descent weakens her both in mind and spirit. A mysterious stranger might be her only salvation, but the price may be her love for Lucas Delos.

As an unforgettable love triangle emerges, Josephine Angelini’s compelling saga becomes ever more intricate and spellbinding. The eagerly awaited sequel to the internationally bestselling Starcrossed, Dreamless delivers with a huge emotional impact that will leave readers satisfied—and longing for more.

I can’t wait to continue this awesome series by the awesome Josephine Angelini because the story is just so frickin’ awesome. Hmmm… wonder how many more times I could use the word ‘awesome’ without it getting ridiculous :P

Waiting On Wednesday: Spines I’m Dying to Break

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

I’m on a book buying ban, which is a rare thing for me. Well, that’s not true really I’m never on a book buying ban; not really anyway. But I have almost a hundred books taking over my house and lately my frustration level is rising because I can’t get to them fast enough. I’m sure you guys know what I’m talking about. Ebooks pile up on you before you know it, book shelves look like they will collapse in on themselves, and the reading pile virtually grows by itself. Covers call to me like a howling wolf in the night. I can’t stop buying. So the ban has begun and it isn’t limited to buying either. I will not step foot in a bookstore for as long as possible in an attempt to get my reading pile under control. Is it even possible? How do you do control your pile?

So this week’s WOW is for the three books I would break my ban for. Here they are…

Girl of Nightmares by Kendare Blake
Anna Series # 2
Release date: August 2012

Cas begins seeing Anna everywhere: sometimes when he’s asleep, and sometimes in waking nightmares. But something is very wrong. These aren’t just daydreams. Anna seems tortured, torn apart in new and ever more gruesome ways every time she appears.

Cas doesn’t know what happened to Anna when she disappeared into Hell, but he knows she doesn’t deserve whatever is happening to her now. Anna saved Cas more than once, and it’s time for him to return the favor.

Shadow Bound by Rachel Vincent
Unbound Series #2
Release date: June 1, 2012

KORI DANIELS is a shadow-walker, able to travel instantly from one shadow to another. After weeks of confinement for betraying her boss, she’s ready to break free of the Tower syndicate for good. But Jake Tower has one final job for Kori, one chance to secure freedom for herself and her sister, Kenley, even if that means taking it from someone else…

The job? Recruit Ian Holt—or kill him.

Ian’s ability to manipulate the dark has drawn interest from every syndicate in the world, most notably an invitation from Jake Tower. Though he has no interest in organized crime, Ian accepts the invite, because he’s on a mission of his own. Ian has come to kill Tower’s top Binder: Kori’s little sister.

Amid the tangle of lies, an unexpected thread of truth connecting Ian and Kori comes to light. But with opposing goals, they’ll have to choose between love and liberty.

Masque of the Red Death by Bethany Griffin
Release date: April 24, 2012

Everything is in ruins.

A devastating plague has decimated the population. And those who are left live in fear of catching it as the city crumbles to pieces around them.

So what does Araby Worth have to live for?

Nights in the Debauchery Club, beautiful dresses, glittery make-up . . . and tantalizing ways to forget it all.

But in the depths of the club—in the depths of her own despair—Araby will find more than oblivion. She will find Will, the terribly handsome proprietor of the club. And Elliott, the wickedly smart aristocrat. Neither boy is what he seems. Both have secrets. Everyone does.

And Araby may find something not just to live for, but to fight for—no matter what it costs her.

Now that you know what my weaknesses for this week are, what are you waiting on?

Waiting On Wednesday: Fairy Tales and Murderous Mermaids

“Waiting On” Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we are eagerly anticipating.

I have two books to share with you this week. Both sound very, very good and the covers – well they’re gorgeous, too.

First up…

Bewitching by Alex Flinn
Kendra Chronicles
Release date: February 14, 2012

“It is the story of Kendra and her first 300 or so years of life. In Bewitching, Kendra ponders whether to help out a modern day plain-looking stepsister, while also reflecting on her experiences in the 1666 British plague, the court of Louis XV, and on the Titanic.”

Second book of the week…

Lies Beneath by Anne Greenwood Brown
Lies Beneath Series # 1
Release date: June 12, 2012

Calder White lives in the cold, clear waters of Lake Superior, the only brother in a family of murderous mermaids. To survive, Calder and his sisters prey on humans, killing them to absorb their energy. But this summer the underwater clan targets Jason Hancock out of pure revenge. They blame Hancock for their mother’s death and have been waiting a long time for him to return to his family’s homestead on the lake.

Hancock has a fear of water, so to lure him in, Calder sets out to seduce Hancock’s daughter, Lily. Easy enough—especially as Calder has lots of practice using his irresistible good looks and charm on unsuspecting girls. Only this time Calder screws everything up: he falls for Lily—just as Lily starts to suspect that there’s more to the monsters-in-the-lake legends than she ever imagined. And just as his sisters are losing patience with him.
